Here is the promised newsletter with translations as it’s theme. It contains 40 books that we were planning to bring to London, including authors like Byron, Dickens, Pope, Pushkin, Shakespeare and Young. A fine association copy of Hannah More’s ”Cœlebs” in stunning signed contemporary bindings and a very rare Swedish translation of Mary Wollstonecraft are worth special mention.
The first book is an interesting inscribed copy of Byron’s ”The corsair” in Swedish translation in which the hitherto unknown translator reveals himself in a handwritten dedicatory poem.
The four Pushkin volumes include all older separately printed translations of his works into Swedish and they are some of the earliest translations whatsoever of his texts.
